Scott Glenn
Scott GlennBorn in Pittsburgh, Pa., on Jan. 26, 1942, Scott Glenn spent a portion of his childhood in poor health; fighting doctors' predictions that he would always walk with a limp, he focused on honing his physical fitness.

After taking to the New York stage in the 1960s, he made his film debut in The Babymaker (1970), which led to largely unforgettable fare until he appeared in Urban Cowboy (1980) and The Right Stuff (1983), in which he played astronaut Alan Shepard. The 1990s brought high-profile roles as a submarine commander in The Hunt for Red October (1990), Clarice Starling's boss in The Silence of the Lambs, an arsonist firefighter in Backdraft and a reporter in Courage Under Fire (1996).

Working regularly in the new millennium, Glenn has also appeared in Training Day (2001), The Shipping News (2001), and the television movies Homeland Security (2004) and Code Breakers (2005).
