As "Cagney & Lacey" (1982-88), Gless and co-star Tyne Daly broke barriers as the first female dramatic leads on television, playing a pair of New York City police detectives. Gless picked up two Emmys and a Golden Globe for her portrayal of the working-class Christine Cagney, who struggled with alcoholism and other complex issues on screen. Gless won another Golden Globe for her work as the title character in the courtroom drama "The Trials of Rosie O'Neill" (1990-92).
Later in her career, Gless enjoyed successful runs on "Queer as Folk" (2000-05), "Nip/Tuck" (2008-09) and "Burn Notice" (2007-), the latter earning her another Emmy nod in 2010.
