Born in Willoughby, Ohio, on Dec. 15, 1933, Tim Conway was spotted while performing on local television and was handpicked to appear on "The Steve Allen Show" (1960), an opportunity that led to a stint on "McHale's Navy" (1962-66). He followed his success at sea with two stabs at his own variety show (1970 and 1980), but it was as a regular player on "The Carol Burnett Show" (1967-78) that Conway truly connected with TV audiences, racking up countless Emmy awards and nominations for his efforts. In his later years, he popped up as a driving instructor in Speed 2: Cruise Control (1997) and provided voices for popular animated children's series including "SpongeBob SquarePants" and "The Wild Thornberrys." He also earned an Emmy for his guest appearances on "Coach" (1996) and "30 Rock" (2008).
Conway's big-screen highlights include the Disney films The Apple Dumpling Gang (1975) and The Shaggy D.A. (1976).
