Born March 1, 1956, in New York City, Tim Daly made his stage debut at age 7 in the play "Jenny Kissed Me," alongside his father, James Daly, his mother, Hope Newell, and his two sisters Glynn and (future Emmy and Tony winner) Tyne Daly. Three years after graduating from Bennington College in Vermont, where he studied theater and literature, Daly landed the lead in the 1982 classic Diner, which also helped to launch the careers of Kevin Bacon, Mickey Rourke and others. After prolific work on stage and in TV series throughout the 1980s, Daly was cast as the neurotically straightlaced pilot Joe Hackett in the hit NBC sitcom "Wings" (1990-97). He later won acclaim as troubled screenwriter J.T. Dolan during two seasons of "The Sopranos."
Daly is also an accomplished cartoon actor, providing the voice of the Man of Steel himself in "Superman: The Animated Series."
