Born July 31, 1962, in Orlando, Fla., Wesley Snipes was raised in New York's South Bronx, where he attended the High School of the Performing Arts. Discovery by a talent scout resulted in a small role in 1986's Wildcats, debuting alongside Woody Harrelson. The next year, Snipes's dance background paid off when he was cast in Michael Jackson's "Bad" video. In the late '80s and early '90s, Snipes moved from supporting to lead roles in several high-profile films: Major League, New Jack City, King of New York and two for director Spike Lee, Mo' Better Blues and Jungle Fever. He also reteamed twice with Harrelson for White Men Can't Jump and Money Train.
Snipes has proved his range in action (Passenger 57), drama (One Night Stand), sci-fi (Demolition Man), mystery (Murder at 1600) and even drag comedy. He achieved a cult following thanks to the Blade vampire hunter trilogy.
