Zac Efron
Native Californian Zac Efron (born Oct. 18, 1987, in San Luis Obispo) first gained widespread attention in the WB teen drama "Summerland." Parlaying a guest spot into a regular role, Efron charmed audiences with his portrayal of Cameron Bale until the show's cancellation in 2005.

That same year, Efron became the No. 1 crush object for tweens across America, thanks to his starring role in the Disney Channel hit High School Musical. Years of hard work, however, preceded "instant" success for Efron, who began singing lessons at a young age and cut his teeth in local musical theater before beginning his string of TV appearances.

In 2007, with his star ascendant, Efron made his big-screen debut as heartthrob Link Larkin in Hairspray, a role that won him an MTV Movie Award for Best Breakthrough Performance. He's since appeared in two High School Musical sequels.
