In his rarely seen silent epic, filmmaking pioneer D.W. Griffith focuses his astute cinematic eye on a rousing re-creation of America's battle for independence. Torn between his revolutionary political beliefs and the woman he loves, simple farmer Nathan Holden (Neil Hamilton) and his fellow patriots are up against a murderous Redcoat (Lionel Barrymore) in their fight for freedom from English rule.
