A true treasure, this documentary on the great silent screen comedian is available because producer Samuel Sherman was able to rescue and restore rapidly deteriorating footage filmed on ancient nitrate stock. Chaplin's Art of Comedy includes rarely viewed scenes and outtakes from many of Chaplin's earliest films (some of which were missing until recently) along with sequences from an unfinished feature film project.
