In this provocative examination of life in the Soviet army told through five short vignettes, Russian soldiers cope with issues of survival amid the violence and inhumanity of the military machine. None of the stories have defined beginnings or endings, leaving key elements of the plot to the viewer's imagination and lending each a surreal quality. Armen Dzhigarkhanyan and Vladimir Zamansky star in this controversial film from director Hussein Erkenov.
