Desperate to be part of polite society and experience high culture, a sensitive working-class boy (Eric Roberts) steals money from his employer and makes his way to New York, where he begins to live out his fantasy. Based on Willa Cather's character study, this thoughtfully rendered episode of the "American Short Story Collection" is hosted by Henry Fonda. Lindsay Crouse and Michael Higgins co-star. Lamont Johnson directs.
