In a small, dusty Mexican town, bullfighter Carmelo is head over heels in love with Alicia, the adopted daughter of the town's pharmacist. But both Carmelo's and Alicia's lives get complicated quickly when Emilio, who returns from Mexico City with an angry posse on his trail, asks Alicia to hide money he won from cheating at card games.
