In a concert filmed at Vienna's famed Porgy & Bess nightclub in 2005, bassist Barre Phillips showcases his free jazz improvisational style with accompaniment by John Hollenbeck on piano and drums. Coming to prominence in the 1960s, Phillips developed his talent playing alongside greats such as Don Ellis and Bobby Hutcherson. Along with the live performance, viewers are treated to candid interviews and insightful footage of Phillips and crew.
